KATIE & ZACK’S MODERN INDIE WEDDING AT BAKERY 1818

Modern Indie Wedding in historical downtown Madison, NC

In the small town of Madison, North Carolina, Katie and Zach had a gorgeous modern indie inspired wedding. Madison is a cute and rustic little town near Winston-Salem and Greensboro, NC full of little shops. Some of these businesses include a brewery, a wine lounge, bakery, and of course the wedding venue Bakery 1818. All of the history and modern touches found throughout Madison make for fun and beautiful wedding photos.

Katie and Zach’s Style Choices

I cannot deny how fabulous Katie and Zach looked on their wedding day! Katie found her stunning indie meets modern gown at Carolina Bridal World. The lace details look absolutely stunning (not to mention unique) with this fitted mermaid silhouette. To match the intricateness of her gown, she wore stylish pearl beaded heels, gold jewelry, and a long simple veil. As for Zach, he wore a dark blue suit with a sage green tie. It was the perfect fit to go with Katie’s bridal look.

How Their Modern Indie Wedding Unfolded

Katie and Zach did some fun things with their wedding that I hadn’t seen very many couples do. Even though they had a traditional sized celebration and guest list, they had a very small wedding party. And it was perfectly simple and drama free for them! Instead of doing a reveal to her bridesmaids, she invited some of her closest friends up to surprise them with her complete bridal look. We even led them into the room with their eyes closed and holding a hands. It was a super sweet moment and they each took turns hugging and crying.

After many laughs during their exchanging of vows, we headed out into the town for portraits. We even had a little drizzle and pulled out the clear umbrellas for some super cute rainy wedding day photos. There were several different spots we stopped that allowed for a variety of backdrops in their photos. Which one is your favorite!?

At the reception, the newlyweds opened the dance floor with a romantic choreographed first dance. Later in the night, they did a really fun activity to include everyone in attendance! The DJ gathered everyone onto the dance floor and played Sweet Caroline, instructing everyone to come in and swarm the newlyweds on cue! It was so much fun and we got some really cool photos of it too.

The night ended with a gorgeous sparkler exit and many congratulations.
