Who says getting married in the desert has to look like a wild west wedding? Megan and David brought the indie chic vibes to this Joshua Tree elopement. Don’t believe me? Here’s the proof! They did not forgo intimacy or luxury when they decided to elope in the California desert. They kept it simple and about each other. You have to see for yourself how they mixed modern elements with indie touches to get this chic Joshua Tree elopement.
There is a huge misconception that elopements mean secrecy and exchanging your vows alone. But that isn’t the case if you don’t want it to be! After all, who says it has to be a secret from your closest friends and family? Eloping can take you to places you never imagined being able to get married in. And it doesn’t have to be hard to bring some guests with you. Stay in a nearby hotel, cabin, or airbnb with (or separate) from your closest loved ones. Megan and David chose a gorgeous property in the Joshua Tree area that was able to host them and their family. If you find the right property, you may not even need to leave for an epic backdrop to exchange your vows.
So how is that cost efficient? Renting an airbnb, hotel rooms, or a cabin for a few days can actually be much cheaper than renting a wedding venue for one day! Whether or not you get married on that property, many national parks only require an event permit to host an intimate elopement. It’s not too hard to find out what is required. Then, you get a dream location for less than planning a large wedding! Not to mention a day that is all about what you and your significant other desire.
I could go on and on about why an elopement may be best for you, but I think these photos will show you better than I could explain.
Sticking to warm brown tones, their details blended together flawlessly. Reed and Rye came in to design their florals and intimate dining space. I fully recommend finding a florist or designer who does both! Ash took Megan’s vision and turned it into real life. Starting with a dark fluffy bouquet and ending with a cozy table setting complete with their charcuterie spread. It created the perfect setting to end their night together, enjoying each other and the sunset.
Megan and David also let the organic textures speak for themselves by sticking with a simple invitation suite. The stark white allowed the details to pop against the warm, earthy colors.
After getting ready inside their airbnb, the pair exchanged their vows between two Joshua Trees. In true Joshua Tree fashion, rolling hills covered in round desert rocks and cacti filled the background. It was a stunning location that allowed their closest family members to witness their marriage and have a fantastic view all in one.
Not only was the landscape worth the view, but Megan and David were a sight to see themselves. Megan chose a chic yet modern satin dress that was just made for her, and her bouquet was designed to go perfectly with it. For David, they kept to a soft pallet that really complimented both the desert tones and Megan’s chic look. I must say, they fit right into the landscape without blending in or clashing.
